AL DOC – Holman Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 251-368-8173
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Holman Correctional located at 866 Ross Rd in Atmore, AL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
William C. Holman Correctional Facility is a minimum to maximum security state prison facility that also houses Alabama's death row inmates and is the only Department of Corrections facility in the state that carries out executions. Holman is located 10 miles north of Atmore, AL off Highway 21 on Ross Road.
The facility’s industrial area consists of a license tag plant where all of the state’s motor vehicle tags are manufactured and a sewing factory that produces sheets and pillowcases that are distributed to other state prisons. Holman offers inmates educational opportunities such as adult basic education and GED courses through the Jefferson Davis Community College. Holman is classified as a close custody correctional facility.
