AL DOC – Limestone Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 256-233-4600
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Limestone Correctional located at 28779 Nick David Rd in Harvest, AL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Limestone Correctional Facility houses about 2,100 maximum security adult male inmates on 1,600 acres of land located on 1,600 acres where it manages a farming and cattle operation in Harvest, AL for the Alabama Department of Corrections.
Limestone and the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women were the two Alabama state prisons in which HIV positive inmates were segregated, a practice that Alabama and South Carolina claimed stopped the spread of the virus and lowered overall medical costs. In 2012 a federal judge found that the segregation practice violated the American Disabilities Act.
Inmates can receive substance abuse treatment at this facility.
