The Prairie County AR Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 200 Court House Square
PO Box 1021 Des Arc, AR which is operated locally by the Prairie County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Prairie County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Des Arc Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

THE PRAIRIE COUNTY JAIL IS THE ONLY DETENTION FACILITY IN THE COUNTY. WE HOLD ALL OF THE DETAINEES FOR EACH CITY. WE CAN HOUSE UP TO 50 DETAINEES INCLUDING THREE 309-INMATES. THE JAIL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FEEDING AND MEDICATING THESE PEOPLE AS WELL AS THEIR GENERAL OVERALL WELL BEING. THE JAIL EMPLOYES FULL TIME JAILERS WITH A PART TIME SWING POSITION THAT IS SHARED WITH DISPATCH.
