This facility is for adult inmates.

The Liberty County FL Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 12499 Pogo St Bristol, FL which is operated locally by the Liberty County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Liberty County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Bristol Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Members of the Corrections Division are responsible for processing offenders that have been arrested in Liberty County as well as processing offenders who have been sentenced by the Liberty County Courts. Individuals that have been arrested will appear before a Judge within the first twenty-four (24) hours of arrest. The Judge informs each arrestee of his/her charge(s) and the bond amount for each charge. The first appearance is held each day.

After the first appearance, each inmate is given a phone call. If able to bond out, inmate complete the necessary procedures and are released from custody with a date to return to court. Inmates who are not released or not able to bond out continue to be held in the county jail.

Upon release from the county jail, all personal property held in the jail will be returned to the released inmate by a member of the Corrections Division. Any remaining funds on the released inmate’s commissary or telephone accounts will be paid to the inmate by check.

MAIL – Inmates are encouraged to correspond with family and friends while incarcerated.

All incoming mail will be inspected for contraband. The following items will be returned to sender:

• Stained with powder, perfume, glue or glitter
• Envelopes with tape or stickers
• Mail from other Jails or Prison Institutions, unless approved by both Institutions
• Note pads
• Greeting cards larger than 5″ by 7″
• Paper, envelopes, pencils, pens or stamps
• Music lyrics
• Cell phones
• Containing sexually explicit photographs and/or literature
• Books or magazines
• Self-developed photographs
• Any other items deemed a risk to institutional security by Corrections Staff.

INMATE WORK RELEASE – This program allows select low-risk offenders who meet the Liberty County Courts and Jail Facility criteria an opportunity to work in the community while completing the terms of their sentence. This program gives offenders the chance to pay restitution and support their families during incarceration.

The Liberty County Jail is a working jail. We strive to meet the daily needs of inmates by providing a vast number of programs. Our goal is to keep inmates productive while decreasing the tax burden to the community.

MEDICAL – The Medical Department is staffed with two Registered Nurses (RN) who provides medical services to inmates. Additionally, the Jail has area Doctors on contract to provide Medical and Mental Health Services to incarcerated offenders. Inmate’s health complaints are solicited daily and followed by appropriate triage and treatment by qualified health professionals.

Visitation Rules

All visitors of the Liberty County Jail are required to abide by the following rules:

No knives, sharp objects, lighters or tobacco products allowed.

No electronic devices are allowed in the Main Lobby or visitation areas. (examples: cell phones, tablets, etc.)

No food, gum or drink items allowed in the visitation areas.

Visitors must be dressed modest and conservative.

• No halter tops, and no spaghetti strap tops.
• All females must wear a bra.
• No see-through clothing, including clothing with holes and tears that reveal any genitals, buttocks or breasts.
• All pants/shorts must be worn on the waistline – no sagging pants/shorts.
• No pajamas (pants or tops) that reveal genitals, buttocks or breasts.
• No low cut blouses.
• All visitors must wear shoes.
• No house shoes or slippers.
• No gang-affiliated clothing, hats or shoes.

An adult must accompany visitors sixteen (16) years old or younger.

Children must NOT be left unattended in the lobby, parking lot, or a vehicle while visiting. All children must be under the supervision of an individual seventeen (17) years of age or older with a valid state issued ID or Driver’s License.

Visitors seventeen (17) years old and older must furnish a valid state-issued ID or Driver’s License, show proof of residency (temporary or permanent) in the United States along with the photo identification:

• United States Driver’s License.
• United States ID.
• Military Identification with independent information included.
• The permanent resident card is also known as a green card.
• United States passport.
• Foreign passport provided with a Visa or I-94 proof of United States residency.

Altered ID’s will not be accepted.

All visitors are subject to being searched.

No individual on active probation or parole will be allowed to visit.

Visitors under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol will be denied visitation and are subject to being arrested.

Visitors will return to the lobby area once they conclude their visit and retrieve their ID’s.

Children three (3) years old and older count as a visitor.

Children are not allowed to run and play in the lobby or visitation area.

An inmate may receive only two visitors at the same time.

Failure to follow visitation rules may result in visitors being banned from the facility or subject to criminal prosecution.

A Correctional Officer has the authority to prohibit or ban any visitor.

All items left in visitor accessible areas will be discarded.
