Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center – Visitation

Provides detention to youth. Programs include AYUDA, substance abuse counseling, Pet therapy, Positive Peer Group and Medical Services. Outside services include Community Custody, where an alternative to custody is used. Here the detention center works closely with the JPPO's in order to insure the appropriate level of supervision. The Safe 2000 Youth and Family Program works with Law Enforcement Officers, and Social workers to provide early intervention services to those at risk.

Visitation days and times for Residents (Youth) Detained at the Youth Services Center: Unit A – Monday 7-8 p.m. Unit B – Tuesday 7-8 p.m. Unit D – Wednesday 7-8 p.m. Unit E – Thursday 7-8 p.m. Unit F – Friday 7-8 p.m. Visitors Allowed:  Parent (s)  Legal guardian (s)  Grandparent (s)  Visitors with prior approval from management  Legal spouse (legal documentation of marriage must be provided) prior approval from director Special Visits for Super Honors Residents:  A YSC supervisor or program manager may grant “special visits” to residents who have achieved “Super Honors” status based on positive behavior while in detention.  Special Visits Normally Apply To: o Siblings who are sixteen (16) years of age or older. o In some circumstances, siblings under the age of 16 and other persons such as aunts, uncles, and close family friends may be approved by a YSC supervisor or program manager provided the resident’s juvenile probation officer and YSC mental health staff have determined that the visit will not be detrimental to the legal case or well-being of the resident
