The Pitt County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 124 New Hope Rd Greenville, NC which is operated locally by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Pitt County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Greenville Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Pitt County Detention Center is a 596-bed facility constructed in 1993. It houses Federal, State and County inmates, both male and female, who are awaiting trial or who have been sentenced to brief periods of incarceration.

- Inmates with last names beginning with A through J – Saturday from 1 – 3:40 p.m.
- Inmates with last names K through Z – Sunday from 1 – 3:40 p.m.
Visitors’ names must be on an approved list provided by the inmate.
Visits are limited to 20 minutes.
