This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at Albemarle CI located at 44150 Airport Rd in New London, NC are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Albemarle Correctional Institution is a medium security institution located in New London, North Carolina, in Stanly County. The prison is comprised of three units for the general population and a segregation unit with cells for 40 men. In total, this facility can house 816 adult males. Albemarle Correctional Institution with a staff of 300.

Albemarle Correctional Institution allows selected inmates to work off prison grounds in road crews clearing debris and removing trash from the roads. Inmates can participate in additional jobs within the institution maintaining the facility, landscape, in food cooking and preparation of meals, and doing janitorial work like cleaning the dorms and laundry. Educational programs enable inmates to earn a GED while incarcerated and receive vocational training in computers, electronic technology, and carpentry.

Albemarle also offers educational opportunities such as GED instruction, courses in computer applications and electronics technology taught by instructors from Stanly Community College.

The appointment schedule is a follows:

Sundays – 8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Mondays – 8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Tuesdays – 8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

Wednesdays – 8:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. (for non-contact visits only)
