This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at Southeastern Correctional located at 5900 B.I.S. Rd in Lancaster, OH are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

SCC is comprised of the main compound located in Lancaster Ohio called Lancaster Unit, and an annex called Hocking Unit that is about 30 miles from the main compound. Hocking Unit houses approximately 450 inmates and Southeastern Correctional houses about 2,081 inmates of minimum/medium custody and are held in open dormitories. This facility participates in the correctional industries program allowing inmates to work in health tech cleaning supplies. Additionally, inmates are offered adult basic education and can earn a GED during their incarceration. Southeastern Correctional offers vocational programs in electrical wiring, building maintenance, farming, custodial work, plumbing, HVAC, recovery operations, and welding. Religious worship services are made available through the Chaplain's office.

Unique Programs

Harvest – The Recovery Services Department at the Southeastern Correctional Institution offers a reentry-approved, earned credit-approved three-month cognitive behavioral therapy alcohol and drug treatment program. The Harvest Intensive Outpatient treatment program focuses on helping participants develop cognitive strategies and positive behavioral skills to restructure their lifestyle. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for continuing care services that include professionally facilitated group meetings and Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous fellowship meetings.

Intensive Program Prison (IPP) – The IPP program is a voluntary program that allows the offender a second chance to change. Program eligibility is determined at the reception phase of the offender's incarceration. The offender completes ninety days of actual incarceration and is then placed on post-release supervision for an appropriate period of time. The SCI IPP Environmentally Conscientious Opportunities (ECO) system incorporates three components, education, skill development, and programming to provide the participant with work-related skills, training, and experience to increase their understanding of environmental issues and the green economy, while simultaneously strengthening their academic and labor market skills, thus enhancing their opportunity for gainful employment upon release from incarceration.

Reading Room – The reading rooms encourage family literacy by providing a pleasant and comfortable setting for both child and incarcerated parents. Each room is stocked with a wide variety of children’s books and has an inmate narrator who reads to the visiting children twice a day. The role of the inmate narrator is to read picture books to the children in much the same manner that children’s hours would be done at a public library. A variety of arts and craft supplies for the children are also available in most of the rooms. Many of the supplies and books are donated by employees and service organizations.

visitation Info

ODRC – Southeastern Correctional Complex – Visitation

Visiting reservations are required for all visiting sessions. Reservations shall be scheduled in one of the following ways:

• By telephone – 1-866-907-4516- Thursday through Monday, 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• By email DRC.visitationSCI@odrc.state.oh.us. This is the preferred method due to the high volume of calls.  Visitors must provide the below information:
• Name and number of the inmate with whom they are requesting a visit;
• Names of all approved visitors requesting the visit and relationship of all visitors to an inmate;
• Date of the requested visit and either morning, afternoon, or all-day session (if eligible).
• Any special accommodations requested.
• Once received, reservation requests shall be processed and an email response shall be returned to the sender within 48 hours of the institution receiving the email (excluding Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and holidays). Visitors will be provided a confirmation code that must be provided upon arrival to the check-in officer.

• Reservations can only be made two months in advance.
• Reservation requests must be made no less than 7 days in advance.
• Reservations are approved on a first requested basis.
• All-day visits shall count as one visit.
• When your visit is approved, you will receive a confirmation number for your visit which you will be required to provide upon your arrival.
• Once approved you may cancel your visit by using one of the three listed methods for reservations, but it must be canceled at least 72 hours in advance.
• Visitors who do not arrive for a reserved visit and fail to cancel said visit at least 72 hours in advance will have the visit count against their total for the month. 

Video Visitation

The Southeastern Correctional Complex Lancaster/ Hocking maintains video visiting kiosks in every general population housing unit. The hours of availability for video visiting are as follows: The morning session is from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, the afternoon session is 11:50 am to 2:50 pm, and the evening session is 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Video visits are 30 minutes in duration and an additional 30 minutes may be requested if there is no one scheduled at the same kiosk immediately after the conclusion of the initial video visit. 

All individuals requesting a video visit must be on the approved visit list or tentatively approved. All visitors must adhere to all applicable visiting rules as if they were visiting in person. If they are unclear about the rules for visiting, they should contact the prison at which the inmate resides. Approved visitors must create an account and register with JPay. When family members register to have a video visit, they are prompted by JPay through a series of steps to achieve their visit.
