The Dallas County – Letot Center is a medium to low-security detention center located at 10505 Denton Dr Dallas, TX that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.
The Letot Center is a co-educational facility, licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, which provides crisis intervention, emergency shelter, programing, and counseling for runaway youth. The Letot Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An intake unit is the first point of contact a youth has with the Letot Center. They perform risk assessments to find the best solution for each youth referred and provide families with crisis intervention services. Staff works towards reuniting runaway youth with their families by releasing youth to parents with individualized treatment plans and support services.
The Letot Center offers:
- Residential Emergency Shelter for up to 32 females and males in crisis. In the average three week stay, residents attend school on site at an Academy for Academic Excellence campus, receive therapeutic treatment from a clinician and case management services.
- Non-Residential Services offers a continuum of services to youth not needing emergency shelter and for youth that have left the shelter. In addition to crisis intervention and counseling services, we offer specialized groups and diversion programs that address issues such as anger management, communication skills, and parenting skills.
- Clinical Services that provide assessment, crisis intervention, and individual, group and family counseling. The primary focus is to strengthen children’s competency in making healthy decisions, building positive relationships, and managing stress and anger.
