AL DOC – Draper Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 334-567-2221
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Draper Correctional located at 2828 Alabama Hwy 143 in Elmore, AL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Draper Correctional Center is a medium custody state prison that houses both male and female inmates but in separate dormitory settings under the supervision of the Alabama Department of Corrections in Elmore County. This facility shares state land with fellow AL DOC prison Staton Correctional Facility
Draper CF provides educational and vocational training at J.F. Ingram Technical College, on site. Draper has productive work opportunities for the inmates that include a furniture plant and a vehicle garage. Draper also provides psychological services and substance abuse programs for inmates.
The prison provides inmates with good jobs from a large farming and agricultural unit, to vocational jobs like creating furniture and learning mechanic skills.
