AL DOC – Elmore Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 334-567-1460
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Elmore Correctional located at 3520 Marion Spillman Rd in Elmore, AL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Elmore Correctional Facility is a medium custody state prison facility housing over 1,100 adult male inmates located north of Montgomery in Elmore, AL operated by the Alabama Department of Corrections. Elmore provides inmates with drug treatment classes, educational, mental health services, and self-help programs including work opportunities in the facility’s compost and recycling operations that serve the local area. Inmates also are employed on the Highway Squads of the Alabama Department of Transportation.
All inmate here must have a job; some will have jobs within the institution while others can work off the facility grounds under AL DOC supervision. The only time this facility has the inmates locked down to their cell is at night when inmates should be sleeping. Some inmates who are on an out of facility work duty are actually allowed to stay overnight at the worksite.
