AL DOC – Ventress Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 334-775-3331

This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at Ventress Correctional located at 379 AL-239 in Clayton, AL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Ventress Correctional Facility is a medium custody state prison that houses about 1,200 Alabama Department of Corrections adult male inmates located in Clayton AL. Many of the inmates participate in supervised community service within the surrounding area. Ventress was originally established as a treatment facility to help those who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. Inmates housed here can participate in a variety of activities and educational programs offered through a nearby college. This facility also has a vocational program where inmates can learn a useful skill.

Ventress' primary mission is to provide alcohol and drug treatment to ADOC’s growing inmate population. The facility offers an eight-week and 15-week alcohol and drug treatment classes and an 18-month Therapeutic Community program. Ventress also offers academic and vocational programs provided by Sparks Technical College and provides community services to the localized city, county and state agencies.
