The Albany Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) is a medium to low-security detention center located at 2030 Newton Rd Albany, GA that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.
Offenders are allowed an intake phone call upon his or her arrival at the RYDC and prior to his/her detention hearing. After the first call, he/she will be allowed to make one free call each week. Contact your child’s counselor for call dates and times. Your child may write as many postcards as he/she wishes during designated times. However, unless you provide the RYDC with extra postage stamps, the child will only be provided postage for two postcards per week.

Parents and guardians may contact the facility where your child is staying for visitation days and hours. Contraband cannot be brought into the facility (i.e. alcohol, cigarettes, money, gum, snacks, drugs, weapons). Snack machines are available at the facility. You may purchase snacks for your child but they must be consumed during your visit.
