The Allegan County MI Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 640 River St Allegan, MI which is operated locally by the Allegan County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Allegan County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Allegan Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

NOTE: VISITS NEED TO BE SCHEDULED 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE, this allows the inmate time to confirm the visit.
The Kiosk for Visiting cannot take Commissary money.
Please use the other kiosk in the Visitation Lobby for depositing money in an inmate's commissary account. Money cannot be transferred if incorrectly deposited in one kiosk.
ANYONE ENTERING INTO THE FACILITY IS SUBJECT TO AUDIO & VIDEO RECORDING.
NO CELL PHONES ARE ALLOWED DURING A VISIT. IF A CELL PHONE IS SEEN, THE VISIT MAY BE TERMINATED.
Visitation Policy
PURPOSE: To allow visits to an inmate confined in the Corrections Center, allow that inmate to continue a basic contact with the outside world, and to maintain mental stability while confined.
REFERENCE: 791.654 Rules and Regulations, Michigan Department of Corrections.
Visiting an inmate is now done locally (in the video visitation room, located in the main lobby) or remotely (on an internet device with a camera).
To create a new account, place money on an inmate's telephone/visitation account, send messages, share photos or schedule video visits, go to www.gettingout.com. Money is no longer taken by Sheriff's Office staff.
If scheduling a local visit (in the video visitation room, located in the main lobby): the video visitation is open Monday – Friday from 7:50am-4:00pm; excluding major holidays (Holiday Closure Dates). Visits can be scheduled beginning at 8:00am, with the last one at 4:00pm. If you have questions and need help with scheduling a visit, call 866-516-0115.
Visitation Hours are subject to change by Administration.
If unsure how to schedule a visit, please call 866-516-0115; or if you are at the Sheriff's Office, you will need to use the phone on the side of the kiosk. This phone rings directly to Telmate Customer Service.
Visitation Rules
These rules apply to all persons who are using the video visitation system to visit friends or family in the jail. Failure to comply with these rules may result in the termination of your visit, and/or restriction of future visitation privileges.
NOTE: Sheriff’s Office staff are unable to pass messages to inmates, including informing them that a visit has been scheduled, or that money has been deposited in their account. Inmates are notified via the kiosk in their housing units of such activities. If a member of the public wishes to get a message to an inmate, they may do so using the kiosk in the video visitation room or by sending an inmate a post card (post cards can be purchased at the post office). There will be no exceptions to this policy.
- Each visitor must register in order to visit.
- Only 2 visitors allowed at each station in the visitation area at a time, this includes children over the age of 2.
- Minors must be accompanied and supervised at all times by an adult in the visitation area.
- No profanity, abusive speech, or loud behavior allowed at any time.
- Persons who are intoxicated, or believed to be under the influence of intoxicants or drugs, will be denied visitation privileges.
- No nudity or suggestive clothing will be allowed.
- No cell phone usage during your visit.
- All visit scheduling and money deposits will occur using the kiosks.
