The Arapahoe County Detention Facility is a medium-security detention center located at 7375 S Potomac St
PO Box 4918 Centennial, CO which is operated locally by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Arapahoe County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Centennial Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Arapahoe County Detention Facility – Inmate Charges and Bonds

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility has come a long way since the doors to the one-room jailhouse in Littleton opened in 1865. After many years in operation, a new structure was built nearby that accommodated the Sheriff's Office and a much larger jail. In 1987, a 299,241 square foot detention facility opened at 7375 South Potomac Street, in what is now the City of Centennial, with a bed space capacity of 404.

Sending Money to an Inmate

There are three ways to get money to an inmate in the Arapahoe County Detention Facility. For each of these options, you should be prepared with either the inmate’s jail identification number or full name and date of birth.

1. In Person: You may come to the Detention Facility and use cash at the lobby kiosk in either the Visitation Center or the Front Lobby to add money to an inmate’s account.

2. Through the Mail: This option is limited to cash, money orders, or certified bank checks made payable to the inmate.

3. By Phone: Use the My Care Pack number at 1–(866) 394-0490.

General Rules

• All incoming mail will be inspected.Mail is processed and distributed Monday through Friday, excluding county holidays.
• Inmate to inmate mail is not permitted in this or any other detention or corrections facility.

• Inmates may receive incoming mail, sealed letters from family and friends, groups of persons and organizations, including but not limited to the following:

  • Legal counsel
  • Courts
  • Government, jail or medical officials
  • Members of the parole authority
• Mail is processed and distributed Monday through Friday, excluding county holidays.
• Inmates may receive up to ten (10), 4 x 6 inch photographs or ten (10) pages of computer-generated photographs up to 8 x 10 inches in size, per envelope. (Effective Nov. 1, 2016)
• Inmates may receive up to ten (10) pages of Internet material per envelope. (Effective Nov. 1, 2016)
• Non-legal envelopes over 8 inches by 10 inches, packages, boxes, books, magazines and other similar items that are considered parcels will not be accepted without pre-approval by the inmate through the Mail Clerk.

Inmate Mail

Mail and packages shall be censored and/or rejected if there is reasonable belief that correspondence may contain inappropriate materials including, but not limited to:

• Plans for criminal activity, the introduction of contraband and/or activities in violation of Facility rules.
• Instructions for the construction and/or manufacture of weapons, explosives or incendiary devices, drugs, drug paraphernalia or alcoholic beverages.
• Material that would, if communicated, disrupt the operation and/or safety of the Facility, create serious danger, interpersonal discord, violence and/or harm to any person.
• Any contraband including, but not limited to: Polaroid photographs, stationary items (i.e., postage stamps, post cards, envelopes, blank paper), business cards, lottery tickets, heavy paper stock, laminated items, plastic or cardboard items, lipstick, glitter, stickers, perfumes/oils, ribbons, beads, string, chemicals, liquids, foreign substances, drawings or writings made with crayons, batteries, electronic devices, recorded musical cards, glue, etc.
• Food items.
• Sexually explicit photographs, articles, or materials depicting sexual activity or displaying male/female genitalia or breasts.
• Gang-related materials including gang graffiti, activity, or tagging.
• Items, whether original or photocopies, that contain credit card(s) and/or account numbers; bank account numbers, checks, deposit slips or any financial statement; Personal Identification Numbers or security codes for any financial transaction or device; Social Security card or number; driver’s license, passport, passport card, consulate card, tribal ID; birth or death certificates or mortuary documents; and/or real estate or property tax documents.
• Three-way or third party mail, i.e., mail sent from an inmate to any address outside of the Facility which is then re-mailed back into the Facility to a different inmate.
• Any mail in violation of any court orders that include, but are not limited to, protection orders, restraining orders and/or no-contact orders.

Inmate Programs

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility is fortunate to have more than 130 volunteers who donate their time to help with various inmate programs, some who generously have volunteered in the detention facility for more than 20 years. More than 75 programs are offered to inmates on a weekly basis and are staffed predominantly by volunteers.

Schedule a Visit

All visitors are required to register and schedule visits through the Securus website. All visitors must be pre-approved and must schedule appointments at least 48 hours in advance of the requested visit.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility's schedule, safety and security are the chief priority. Scheduled visitation appointments may be changed or cancelled at any time to accommodate the needs of the facility. Visitation Center Rules and Regulations 

Arapahoe County Provides On-Site Visitation ONLY ALL VISITS ARE MONITORED AND RECORDED 
Visitation is permitted during these hours: 
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. 
Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
Inmates are permitted to visit only during listed visitation hours. Visits scheduled during unauthorized hours or that conflict with other scheduled events will be cancelled. Inmate workers will not receive visits during their work assignment. Rules & Regulations for all Visitors: 
• All visitors are required to register and schedule visits through the Securus website at www.securustech.net at least 48 hours prior to the date and time requested. 
• No loitering in the visitation center; only scheduled visitors may enter the Visitation Center. 
• All visitors must check in 10 minutes prior to the scheduled visit. Visitors and guests over the age of 18 must present a valid government-issued photo I.D. 
• A maximum of two (2) visitors are permitted per visitation session. 
• Visitors and guests may only visit once per day. 
• Inmates may only have 3 scheduled visits per week (Sunday through Saturday). 
• Visits are thirty (30) minutes in length. Late arrivals will be allowed the remainder of the scheduled visitation period; no time extensions are allowed. 
• Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children must be under constant, direct, adult supervision at all times while at our facility. Any unattended children will cause the visit to be terminated. 
• Any person(s) using profane language, causing a disturbance, dressed inappropriately or offensively, or displaying any type of nudity will not be allowed to visit and will be required to vacate the premises. 
• Use of cell phones or other electronic equipment is prohibited. 
• No food or beverages are permitted in the visitation booth. 
• No weapons of any type are permitted. 
• Visitors or guests may be subject to prosecution if they: 
– are suspected to be, or are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or are in possession of such items; 
– are found in violation of a court; and/or

– are caught tampering or damaging any of the video visitation equipment. 
• Visitors are required to follow the directives of staff compliantly and immediately. Visitors will be restricted due to inappropriate behavior toward staff.
