This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at ADC-NW AR Work Release located at 600 W Sunset Ave in Springdale, AR are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Northwest Arkansas Work Release Center houses approximately 100 minimum security offenders. Inmates at this facility are allowed to work in the surrounding community and report back to the institution at the end of their work shift. They are preparing for their eventual release and are only eligible to be a part of the work release program if they are no more than 42 months from their release or initial parole hearing. An inmate must be class I-A non-violent offender to be eligible.

Most inmates are not eligible for work release because of the crime they committed, but inmates that are come as close to being free as they can. They work in the real world often in the surrounding communities with minimal supervision from the DOC personnel.

Directions: From Little Rock travel approximately 150 miles west on I-40 to exit 12 (I-49). Travel on I-49 north to Springdale then take exit 72 (U.S. Highway 412/Sunset Avenue). Turn right onto Sunset Avenue and travel approximately 3.4 miles to the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Thompson Street. After continuing through the intersection, travel another 2½ blocks on Sunset Avenue and the Northwest Arkansas Work Release Center will be on the left.

No cellphones, you will be searched before visiting. NO personal belongings. Persons under probation, parole, or other community corrections supervision must obtain the permission of both their individual supervising officer and the superintendent prior to a visit. Such visitation is not normally approved. 

If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is a family member of the inmate, they must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian to include a member of the inmate's extended family. If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is not a family member of the inmate, the minor visitor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
