Bar-O-Boys Ranch a branch of the Del-Norte County Probation Department is located in northern California near Crescent City California. We are a forty-two-bed facility that sits nestled amongst the beautiful and scenic Smith River surrounded by US Forest land located in the Six Rivers National Forest.
The Bar-O-Boys Ranch's emphasis is to promote accountability in our boys based on the William Glassers Choice Theory. Much of their focus centers on cause and effects issues and getting the youth to recognize that the very fact that he is at their facility is statement that something went wrong. Their success working with troubled youths is a direct result of their emphasis on family dynamics and other influences using evidence-based practices compounded with a staff with a combined experience of over seventy-five-years.
Minors that are committed to their program are given many opportunities for personal growth and social development. We have a wide range of vocational programs that promote a strong work ethic for the boys providing them with learning new skills that build a since of pride and self-worth in the youth.
