This facility is for adult inmates.
The Barren County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 201 Samson St Glasgow, KY which is operated locally by the Barren County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Barren County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Glasgow Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
Barren County KY Detention Center – Rules
1. Inmates will rise at 5:00 a.m. Cleaning supplies will be placed in cells at 5:15 a.m. and removed at 5:45 a.m. Inmate beds are to be made by 6:00 a.m. Inmates are not to be under their sheets/blankets from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Inmates may lay on their beds during the day.
2. Lights will remain on 24 hrs/day.
3. Meals will be served at 6 a.m., 11 a.m., and 4 p.m. All inmates will come to the door for Roll Call. All inmates will be fully dressed when coming to the door.
4. All mail is opened in front of the inmates, except for packages and mail suspected of containing contraband. All stamps, seals, and stickers will be removed. All mail must have a return address, otherwise it will be placed in the inmate's property. There will be no Inmate to Inmate mail. If an inmate receives mail from another institution, it will be placed in their property.
5. Visitation on-site public visitation will be Monday thru Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Thursday 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. You will be allowed two visits weekly. At-home visits can be scheduled every day of the week from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm at videovisitanywhere.com.
6. Commissary will be run on Monday and Friday, or at the Jailer's discretion. Commissary requests will be picked up by 6 a.m. on those days. Commissary is a privilege, not a right.
7. Inmates will conduct themselves in a quiet and orderly manner at all times.
8. Destruction of Jail property will not be tolerated. Inmates will be responsible for reimbursement for any damaged property.
9. There will be no sheets, blankets, or towels hanging on bunks at anytime. No paper or pictures will be allowed on the walls.
10. All inmates will shower and use good personal hygiene at all times.
11. Each inmate will be furnished with soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, 1 towel, 2 bedsheets, 1 blanket, 1 mattress and 2 uniforms.
12. All inmates will have access to purchase hygiene items. Indigent inmates will be provided with hygiene items.
13. All inmates will be allowed 2 pairs of socks and 2 pairs of underwear. These items must be purchased from Commissary.
14. All money will be logged on an inmate's account. Receipts will be provided for each transaction.
15. There will be no contact between cells.
16. All phone calls are subject to being monitored and recorded.
17. Any excess property must be sent out within 30 days of the booking date or it will be destroyed. Any property left 30 days after release will be destroyed.
18. Each inmate will be allowed to have 5 photos. No photos larger than 5×7 and no computer-generated photos are allowed.
19. No inmate shall be standing at the door of the cell unless summoned by a Deputy.
20. Any inmate who has loss of property at the time of release must make a written complaint to the Jailer with 48 hours of their release.
21. Any inmate released who has money remaining on their account and owes no fees will have a check mailed to them within 30 days of their release.
Inmate's Rights
1. Inmates have the right to be informed in writing of all rules, regulations, schedules, and disciplinary actions used at Barren County Correction Center.
2. All inmates are entitled to healthcare comparable to that available to citizens in the surrounding community. Medical care will be under the direction of Southern Health Partners.
3. All inmates are encouraged to maintain their personal hygiene.
4. Every reasonable attempt shall be made to facilitate the exercise of the religious beliefs of inmates.
5. No inmate shall be discriminated against because of race or religion.
6. The right to access the Courts is a fundamental right of all US citizens.
7. Inmates are encouraged to maintain contact with family/friends.
8. Inmates shall be allowed to file a grievance at such time he believes he has been subject to abuse, harassment, an abridgement of civil rights, or denied privileges as specified in the rules.
All programs at Barren County Correction Center are structured to create an environment for positive change in the offender's life, so they can better serve the community as productive citizens when released.

On Wednesday, March 8 the Barren County Detention Center will begin using a "Video Visitation" system for all friends and family visits with inmates. The following are answers to our most frequently asked questions. |

Inmates will visit with friends and family from a video visitation terminal in their housing unit. Friends and family will visit from a similar visitation terminal in the public visitation room located in the administration lobby. These visits are referred to as "onsite" or "public" visitations. |

Each inmate is allowed two 20 minute visits from friends or family members weekly at the jail. Inmates can have unlimited remote visits from home. |
