This facility is for adult inmates.
The Barry County MI Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 1212 W State St Hastings, MI which is operated locally by the Barry County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Barry County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Hastings Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
INMATE PROGRAMS – Jail programs are to assist inmates in returning back into the community with job skills, anger control techniques, and counseling with substance abuse issues. With these programs our aim is to return the inmates to the community with the education and tools to not only improve their life style, but to make them productive members of the community.

Items That Will Be Accepted
One set of clothing may be left for an upcoming court appearance – only for jury trials.
Medications: Current Prescription medications authorized by jail nurse.
Inmates may purchase additional items through the commissary.
Correspondence: All correspondence must be mailed through the US Postal Service, UPS, or other agency.
Money – All money should be deposited in the resident's account no later than 4:00 pm on Sunday in order for it to be deposited in time to be used for store orders. We accept cash, money orders, and cashier checks. No personal checks are accepted. Additional phone cards may be purchased daily.

Online at govpaynow.com – Pay Location Code # (5500). Be prepared to enter Resident Name, Facility Name, and Resident Booking number.

Money orders, and cashier checks must be made out to the Barry County Jail, with inmate name in memo line.
Property Pick-Up
Property must be picked up within thirty days of the final release of a resident or it will be disposed of. It is the responsibility of the inmate to advise someone prior to leaving jail.
Packages – No packages will be accepted unless approved by the jail administrator.
All incoming packages will be opened and inspected.
Mail – All incoming mail will need to be on metered postcards. We will no longer accept letters in envelopes.
- Inmate to inmate mail will not be allowed.
- We will no longer accept pictures of any kind, this includes by mail or over the counter.
- Money orders may be mailed in an envelope with only the money order in it. Envelopes must be addressed to the "Barry County Jail."
- Attorney and court papers mailed to inmates will continue to be opened in the presence of the inmate.
- NO postage stamps or envelopes accepted.

VISITING HOURS
Identification Required / 30 Minute Visits / Anyone under 17 must be with a parent or guardian.
FEMALES will have visits on Fridays. Visitation times will be 1:30pm, 2:05pm, 6:30pm, 7:05pm and 8:00pm
All MALE visits, except work release will be offered by the first letter of their last name. See schedule below. A – F / Monday 1:00pm, 1:35pm, 6:25pm, 7:00pm, 7:35pm, 8:10pm and 9:30pm. G – L / Tuesday 1:00pm, 1:35pm, 6:25pm, 7:00pm, 7:35pm, 8:10pm and 9:30pm. M – R / Wednesday 1:00pm, 1:35pm, 6:25pm, 7:00pm, 7:35pm, 8:10pm and 9:30pm. S – Z / Thursday 1:00pm, 1:35pm, 6:25pm, 7:00pm, 7:35pm, 8:10pm and 9:30pm.
WORK RELEASE VISITATION TIMES Sunday / 9:00am, 9:30, 6:30pm and 7:05pm. Upon admission and arraignment, residents are allowed a 30-minute visit with up to 2 visitors.
PUBLIC VISITATION RULES Visitors must produce identification to the Corrections Officer at the front desk to be admitted. Children accompanied by an adult do not need to produce identification. Children under 17 years of age must be accompanied by an adult to be admitted and no more than one (1) child may accompany each adult. No smoking. No profanity. Any smuggling of, or attempt to smuggle, contraband or weapons into this facility will be cause for denial of the visit, termination of the visit, and permanent restriction of future visiting privileges, and/or filing of criminal charges against the offender(s). The inmate(s) involved may receive disciplinary action.
CONTRABAND IS ANYTHING NOT AUTHORIZED BY THE JAIL Intoxicated or obnoxious visitors will be asked to leave. No obscene language will be tolerated. Visitors must be dressed in a socially accepted manner. Clothing must not be sexually suggestive or revealing in any way. Those dressed in a non-socially accepted manner may be denied visit. Any infractions of the above mentioned rules will result in the immediate termination of your visit at the Barry County Jail.
