This facility is for adult inmates.
The Benzie County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 505 S Michigan Ave Beulah, MI which is operated locally by the Benzie County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Benzie County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Beulah Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
CELL RULES
1. All inmates must obey the verbal and written direction and instruction of all members of this staff, including all posted notices. Failure to comply with the orders shall result in disciplinary action.
2. Inmates are prohibited from any Deputy post from any other inmate's cell. DO NOT CROSS BLACK LINE AT DOOR THRESHOLD.
3. Dayrooms are to be kept neat and orderly, no litter on the floors.
4. You are to be fully clothed and shoes must be worn when outside of your cell.
5. Staff will determine the size of your jail uniform.
6. You must make your beds and clean cell before power and phones will be turned on. The bed is to be made at all times.
7. Shower shoes are to be worn to and from the shower and while in the shower only. They are not to be worn in place of issued shoes.
8. No item may be attached to any cell wall, bunk, desk, fixture, etc. Any item so attached shall be confiscated and destroyed as contraband.
9. Inmates leaving or returning to a housing unit must check in and out with the assigned Deputy.
10 No unauthorized communications between inmates from different housing areas (cell blocks). This includes verbal and written communications without prior staff approval.
11. No sharing commissary items.
12. No removal of pages or pictures from any library item, subscription books or magazines. Possession of any removed object shall constitute in a misconduct charge.
13. No staring or gawking out of any cell/dayroom windows.
14. Meals are to be eaten at tables only. All uneaten food must be returned to the kitchen.
15. Chairs are to be kept away from the wall and flat on the floor. Feet are to be kept on the floor.
16. Do not touch the television. You must request a channel change through the Deputy.
17. No sitting on tabletops, pillows, or blankets. All linen is to be kept in your cell unless showering or linen exchange.
18. Approved items must be kept in your property box. The only exceptions are library materials and wet hygiene products.
19. Razors are available on Tuesday and Friday and must be requested prior to lockdown the night before and returned by 9:30 A.M. NO EXCEPTIONS.
20. Passing or receiving commissary or meal items from one inmate to another is prohibited.
21. Your jail uniform is to be worn above the hips.
COMMISSARY:
B. A current list of commissary items, prices, and your available balance will be given to you.
C. Order must be placed prior to lockdown on Monday, as the vendor extracts orders between midnight and 6:00 AM on Tuesdays.
D. Commissary costs will be deducted from your account.
E. If you are deemed indigent, you will have the ability to purchase indigent hygiene items will be provided through the commissary ordering program below.
F. You will be required to sign a commissary form indicating commissary received.
G. Commissary ordering instructions:
1. PRESS·1·for English,·2· for Spanish.
2. PRESS "1" for Collect Call.
3. ENTER your PIN (Inmate ID + Four digit Swanson PIN).
4. WHEN asked for area code I number, dial ·sass·to access Commissary Ordering (wait for connection).
5. ORDER by following the prompts I items codes.
6. ORDER DEBIT TIME by using "7001" for $1.00 amounts or "7050" for $50.00 amounts (you may order any quantity, up to your commissary balance).
7. COMPLETE the process or the order isn't placed (stay on the line until you are notified).

1. Visits are fifty (50) minutes long.
2. Inmates are limited to two visitors per visit, inclusive of infants.
3. No visitors under the age of seventeen (17) will be allowed to visit without being accompanied by their legal guardian.
4. All visitors will be required to show proof of their identity.
5. All visitors are required to register at the dispatch window. Sign next to inmates’ name and phone the control room to advise they are there and who they want to visit.
6. All visitors are required to turn over all funds, clothing, and legal papers for inmates to the control room before visiting. All letters must be sent through the mail.
7. Visitors are subject to search by jail personnel.
8. Any visitor who brings or attempts to bring, any item of contraband into the jail will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
9. Visitors who are intoxicated or acting out will not be permitted to visit with any inmate(s).
10. Inmates and visitors will conduct themselves appropriately at all times. When an inmate or visitor does not conduct himself/herself properly, the supervising officer will discontinue the visit & ask the visitor to leave.
11. All visitors will leave the visiting area when told to do so by the supervising officer.
12. Professional visits (attorneys, clergy, etc.) may visit at any reasonable time, excluding meal time.
13. Visitors and inmates must be fully dressed and remain so during the duration of the visit.
14. Children are not allowed to stand or sit on the counter in the visiting booth.
