This facility is for adult inmates.

The Birmingham City Jail offers educational training such as GED preparation and literacy service, social services (Alcoholic Anonymous, Narcotic Anonymous, AIM (Aids in Minority and Life Skills), Assist Veteran Affairs VJO homeless in offering mental health and substance abuse treatment as an alternative to incarceration, identify and assess individuals who meet the criteria for the Municipal Court Drug Program. Female detainees are offered Healthy Lifestyles therapeutic classes.

The jail provides Domestic Violence intervention classes for inmates incarcerated for long periods of time due to their domestic violence convictions and provide counseling to those affected by mental illness. The unit also offers religious programs to enhance the quality of life during and after incarceration; while providing a clean and healthy work environment for the staff and detainees.

No cellphones, you will be searched before visiting. NO personal belongings. Persons under probation, parole, or other community corrections supervision must obtain the permission of both their individual supervising officer and the superintendent prior to a visit. Such visitation is not normally approved. 

If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is a family member of the inmate, they must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian to include a member of the inmate's extended family. If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is not a family member of the inmate, the minor visitor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
