The Calcasieu Parish Juvenile Detention Center is a medium to low-security detention center located at 3615 East Prien Lake Road
PO Box 2073 Lake Charles, LA that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.
The Juvenile Detention Center provides temporary secure confinement and care to juveniles referred from local law enforcement agencies, state agencies, Federal Agencies and from our own Probation, Drug Court and F.I.N.S. departments. The center is equipped to house 36 juveniles, male and female, ranging from 10 to 20 years of age.
The Juvenile Detention Center was opened in 1968. The center is located on the north side of the Office of Juvenile Justice Services at 3615 East Prien Lake Road. The facility consists of 18 rooms, 2 observation rooms, 2 recreation rooms, a control room for staff, laundry room, kitchen, nurse’s office, 2 classrooms and 2 fenced recreation yards. A computer lab and library are located in the recreation rooms.
