This facility is for adult inmates.
The Carver County Jail (ICE) is a medium-security detention center located at 600 East 4th St Chaska, MN which is operated locally by the Carver County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Carver County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Chaska Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Carver County Jail will house any and all inmates that are sentenced, pre-trial, awaiting bail or arraignment as directed by law for either a felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor. Charges range from traffic offenses to murder.
Television and recreation are earned privileges. The Minnesota Department of Corrections mandates commissary privileges. Inmates wear facility-issued clothing at all times while in the Carver County Jail.

Detainees cannot receive incoming calls. If you need to get in touch with a detainee to leave an urgent message, you must call (952) 361-1145 and leave the detainee’s full name, alien registration number and your name and telephone number where you can be reached. The detainee will be given your message.

Visiting hours at the Carver County Jail are as follows:
Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Visitors will not be allowed to start their visits after 4:00 p.m. for afternoon visits or after 8:30 p.m. for evening visits.
Visitors must be previously approved through our Programs Office two days prior to the visitation days. Each inmate must fill out a visitors list with up to five visitors. All visitors must be pre-approved by the program staff prior to visiting.
Visitors must be 18 years of age or older, or accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. All visitors must possess valid identification or a driver's license at the time of visiting. All visitors must be on the inmate's approved visitors list.

- Adult visitors must present a valid, verifiable government-issued identification card to enter the facility.
- Minors who are visiting the facility must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older). Minors must not be left unaccompanied in the waiting room, visiting room or any other area.
Attorney Visits
Legal representatives of detainees are authorized to visit their clients during the following hours:
Attorneys and/or paralegals may visit detainees at any time day or night, but the facility advises to avoid mealtimes if possible.
A list of pro bono (free) legal organizations will be posted in all detainee housing units and other appropriate areas. This list shall be updated quarterly. If a detainee wishes to see a representative or paralegal from that organization, it is the detainee’s responsibility to contact them for an appointment.
Consular Visits
Consular officials may meet with their detained nationals at any time. It is requested that prior arrangements be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer to the extent possible, and that consular officials bring appropriate credentials when they come to the facility. Clergy Visits
Clergy may visit detainees at any time, but must make prior arrangements with the Chaplain’s Office.
Visiting Restrictions
- All family or other social visits are Non-contact.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted in the facility.
- If visitors are or appear to be intoxicated, visitation will not be allowed.
- All visitors are subject to search while in the facility.
- Visitors are not allowed to pass or attempt to pass any items to detainees.
- Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area.
Search Procedures (prior to or during all visitations)
All individuals requesting admittance to the facility or the visitation area are subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. Individuals refusing to cooperate with a reasonable search will not be admitted. No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of this facility.
