The Cass County MN Jail (ICE) is a medium-security detention center located at 303 Minnesota Ave West
PO Box 1119 Walker, MN which is operated locally by the Cass County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Cass County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Walker Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Cass County Jail is currently a 60-bed facility and is running above maximum capacity. The Jail houses inmates, both male and female, for up to one year. Housing has also contracted out to Crow Wing county, providing 60 beds. Programming is provided for all inmates. Qualifying inmates have an opportunity to work out of the Jail or within the Jail, or to serve on the Sentence to Service work crew. In addition to supervising inmates within the Cass County Jail, the Jail also conducts prisoner transports and courtroom security.

Sentence To Serve Program
Any governmental or non-profit organization may use the Sentence to Service program. It is a program in which inmates volunteer to go out and do community projects and the only payment they receive is a reduction in sentence or reduction in their fines.
If you need information about a detainee that is housed at this facility, you may call (402) 296-9377 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. When you call, please have the individual’s biographical information ready, including first, last and hyphenated names, any aliases he or she may use, date of birth and country of birth.
Detainees cannot receive incoming calls. If you need to get in touch with a detainee to leave an urgent message, you must call (402) 296-9377 and leave the detainee’s full name, alien registration number and your name and telephone number where you can be reached. The detainee will be given your message.

Thursday afternoons, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Sunday afternoons, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Female Hours: Wednesday afternoons, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Thursday evenings, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Sunday afternoons, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Visitors will have a minimum of 15 minutes of visiting time. If time permits, visits can be longer.

- Before any inmate is allowed visitation, he/she is required to submit a list of authorized visitors to the front office. This list must be on file by 8:00 a.m. on the day of the visit to be valid.
- The only children allowed to visit are the inmate’s children. Birth certificates are required and mother’s and father’s names must appear on the birth certificate. Step-children are not allowed to visit. Siblings under 18 may visit with a parent; however they are required to have a birth certificate also.
- Visits are filled on a first come, first served basis and you must appear at least 15 minutes prior to the visit. All visits last one hour.
Adult visitors must present a valid, verifiable government-issued identification card to enter the facility.
Minors who are visiting the facility must be accompanied by an adult guardian (18 years or older). Minors must not be left unaccompanied in the waiting room, visiting room or any other area.
Attorney Visits
Legal representatives of detainees are authorized to visit their clients during the following hours:
Attorneys and/or paralegals may visit detainees at any time day or night, but the facility advises to avoid mealtimes if possible.
A list of pro bono (free) legal organizations will be posted in all detainee housing units and other appropriate areas. This list shall be updated quarterly. If a detainee wishes to see a representative or paralegal from that organization, it is the detainee’s responsibility to contact them for an appointment.
Consular Visits
Consular officials may meet with their detained nationals at any time. It is requested that prior arrangements be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer to the extent possible, and that consular officials bring appropriate credentials when they come to the facility. Clergy Visits
Clergy may visit detainees at any time, but must make prior arrangements with the Chaplain’s Office.
Visiting Restrictions
- All family or other social visits are Non-contact.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted in the facility.
- If visitors are or appear to be intoxicated, visitation will not be allowed.
- All visitors are subject to search while in the facility.
- Visitors are not allowed to pass or attempt to pass any items to detainees.
- Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area.
Search Procedures (prior to or during all visitations)
All individuals requesting admittance to the facility or the visitation area are subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. Individuals refusing to cooperate with a reasonable search will not be admitted. No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of this facility.
