The Cass County detention facility is located in Harrisonville, Missouri, the county seat. The facility was built in conjunction with the Cass County Justice Center, which houses the Courts, Judges, Circuit Clerk, Prosecutor’s Office, Sheriff’s Office and County Jail and provides a secure juvenile detention facility for up to 19 juvenile offenders.

Education – Youth in secure detention attend school every day that the Harrisonville public schools are in session. A teacher is provided by the Harrisonville R-9 School District, and to the greatest extent possible, youth work to maintain their regular academic programming.

Recreation – The Cass County Juvenile Justice Center has two separate exercise areas for recreational use. The indoor area provides space for activities such as ping-pong and basketball. The outdoor area also includes a basketball goal and gives residents an opportunity for outdoor recreation.

Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative – Since 2008 the Cass County Juvenile Office has participated in the Annie E. Casey Foundation's Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI). A multidisciplinary collaboration of county agencies has provided input and support in assessing conditions of confinement and ensuring that secure detention is used only for the most serious juvenile offenders.
