CDCR – Chamberlain Creek Conservation (Fire) Camp #17 basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 707-964-3518
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Chamberlain Creek Camp #17 located at 15800 Hwy 20 in Fort Bragg, CA are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Camp History – Chamberlain Creek Conservation Camp #17 was opened June 8, 1959. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and Cal Fire jointly operate the camp. The camps primary mission is to provide fire crews for fire suppression. Additionally, the inmates provide a workforce for conservation and community service projects in the local area.
Inmate Programs – Inmates may participate in hobby craft, basketball, horseshoes, billiards, ping pong, foosball, weight room, reading or other activities. In order to seek higher education, inmates are afforded the opportunity to register in classes provided by Coastline Community College. Spiritual and religious services are provided by community volunteers of various denominations. Narcotics Anonymous/Alcoholics Anonymous groups are provided to the inmate population by local volunteer groups to promote a substance abuse free lifestyle for its membership through peer support and use of the AA 12-step program.
