CDCR – Ironwood State Prison (ISP) basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 760-921-3000
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Ironwood State Prison located at 9005 Wiley’s Well Rd in Blythe, CA are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Ironwood State Prison is located in Blythe CA. It houses over 3,280 male inmates who are medium to minimum custody. Ironwood is comprised of five facilities, four of which house level III medium security inmates. An outdoor level I facility houses minimum security inmates. One of the four-level III buildings is used for inmates who are on administrative segregation.
The primary goal of Ironwood State prison is to confine the offenders while also offering educational and vocational skills that will help to reform the inmate. Inmates can be rehabilitated through many of the self-help programs that are available to them, including adult basic education and GED classes, anger management, substance abuse treatment, English Second Language courses and more. Some of the vocational skills offered at this institution include mechanical drawing, cabinet making, plumbing, welding, electrical, drywall, carpentry, HVAC, auto body and mechanic courses and more.
The mission of Ironwood State Prison (ISP) is to improve public safety through the confinement of minimum and medium custody male offenders while providing them the life improvement skills needed to successfully re-integrate back into society upon parole.
These life improvement skills include but are not limited to Self-help programs, Vocational and Basic Educational, Spiritual, and College Programs.
