CDCR – Konocti Conservation (Fire) Camp #27 basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 707-994-2441
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Konocti Conservation Camp #27 located at 13044 S St Hwy 29 in Lower Lake, CA are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Camp History/Operations – Konocti Conservation Camp CC#27 was opened in April 1963. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) work in concert together in the overall operation of the camp. In addition to five (5) Inmate Fire Crews, Konocti has a CAL FIRE Mobile Kitchen Unit (MKU). The MKU is able to respond to major incidents and provide meals for all personnel involved. Konocti also has a Mobile Equipment Unit (MEU). The MEU responds to major incidents to repair and maintain numerous vehicles and equipment involved at the incident. These services are vital to the fire suppressions missions and both resources have been dispatched to major campaign fires. In addition Konocti Camp services all emergency fire vehicles in Lake County in one of the largest heavy equipment garages in the area.
Inmate Programs – AA/NA, Pre-Release, G.E.D. and college courses, Waste Water Treatment Program. Community volunteers provide spiritual services and program support four (4) days a week
Community Service Projects/Emergency Incidents – During the 2012 fiscal year, Konocti Camp through work projects and conservation efforts provided local communities with thousands of crew hours, and responded to over 140 emergency incidents (fire and flood fighting). Konocti Fire Crews worked over 7000 hours responding to these incidents.
