CO DOC – Denver Reception & Diagnostic Center (DRDC) basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 303-371-4804
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Denver Reception & Diagnostic located at 10900 Smith Rd in Denver, CO are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
An intake and classification facility is temporary housing for up to the 575 inmates here as they will be processed into the Department of Corrections system by being physically and mentally evaluated. The staff here determines what programs the inmate may benefit from. The inmates are all levels of custody because they have not yet been classified. An educational and skills testing will take place, which will further classify their needs. From all these factors the staff will determine which facility is the best fit for permanent housing. Basic education, GED, anger management, substance abuse, and parenting courses are just some of the programs offered by this institution.
