Colusa County Jail basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 530-458-0205

This facility is for adult inmates.

The Colusa County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 929 Bridge St Colusa, CA which is operated locally by the Colusa County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Colusa County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Colusa Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The jail can house up to 92 inmates. Inmates in the facility may be awaiting trial or serving a sentence. An inmate can serve up to a year in the facility for each felony conviction. Inmates are served three meals per day, which are provided through a contract with the local hospital.

Acceptable Materials – Inmates may receive letters, cards, and pictures through the mail. Books and magazines will be accepted only if they are sent from the publisher or are paid subscriptions. These will not be forwarded upon an inmate's release.

Unacceptable Materials

  • Any mail containing pornography, gang-related activity, and/or violence will not be accepted.
  • No packages of any sort will be accepted.
  • Polaroid pictures and any other photos larger than 4" by 4" will not be accepted. They will be placed in the inmate's personal property.

Postage – Inmates are responsible for their own postage. Stamped envelopes can be purchased at the commissary. An inmate who carries a balance of less than one dollar for more than a week will be allowed two postage-free letters per week.

Money – Money in the form of cash or cashier's checks may be deposited in an inmate's account during visiting hours and business hours. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Money orders are accepted through the mail and will be deposited in the inmate's account when received. Do not mail cash or personal checks.
Please note: Any monies remaining in an inmate's account will be returned to the inmate by check upon release.

Property – An inmate shall accept no property from the public while incarcerated. Property will not be received over the counter or through the mail for any inmate.
Please note: Allowances will be considered for medically-oriented items only.

Colusa County Jail – Visitation

Inmates are allowed two 30-minute visits per week. You must have photo identification in order to visit. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children may not be left unattended in the lobby or visiting room under any circumstance.
