The Craighead County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 901 Willet Rd Jonesboro, AR which is operated locally by the Craighead County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Craighead County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Jonesboro Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Craighead County Detention Center began housing inmates in 1989. The goal of the Craighead County Detention Center is to create a safe, secure and humane environment for both staff members and inmates.
The detention facility houses a maximum of 360 inmates, with a separation of felon status male, misdemeanor status male, special needs male inmates, female felony and misdemeanor status inmates.
There are supervising pods for each classification of inmates: Felony, Misdemeanor, Special Needs Housing and Juvenile Inmates. We have 73 officers supervising 4 shifts, assigned at 12 hours per shift.
The Craighead County Detention Center has medical staff under the direction of a supervising Medical Director to effectively control inmate’s emergency medical needs while housed at the detention facility.
Inmate meal services are under a contracted entity, Tiger Correctional Services, Inc. Tiger implements a suitable meal service program, under mandates of the Criminal Detention Facility Review Commission ensuring all inmates decided by their class receive the proper caloric intake, meeting nutritional and special dietary needs. Tiger Correctional also serves the inmate's commissary needs separate from meal services. Inmates are allowed to order hygiene and snack items from Tiger on Monday and Thursday of each week. Inmates will receive their orders on Tuesday and Friday of each week.
To post bond for an inmate you have a few options through the Sheriff's Office:

- There is also a bond kiosk in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office. This kiosk only accepts denominations of $100, $20, $10, and $5, and it does not give change.
- If you need to use a debit/credit card, we do have a terminal that will process your payment for a 7% service fee.
- No personal checks will be accepted, Money Orders or Cashier's Checks are to be made to Craighead County

Craighead County Detention Center – Visitation
Male visitation: Friday (8:30 to 10:30 a.m.) Saturday and Sunday (1:00 to 3:00 p.m.)
Female visitation: Thursday (8:30 to 10:30 a.m.) Saturday (8:30 to 10:30 a.m.)
Inmates will be allowed one visit per week.
You will be asked the inmates first and last names.
Dress code for women: only conservatively-dressed ladies will be allowed to visit inmates.
Anyone 12 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
You must leave a state-issued ID or another official form of identification in order to visit.
Only two people are allowed to visit an inmate at a time.
