The Crawford County PA Correctional Facility is a medium-security detention center located at 2100 Independence Dr in Saegertown, PA. This county jail is operated locally by the Crawford County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Crawford County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Saegertown Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

There are new detainees delivered to the jail daily, you can see arrest records here. Some are released after putting up bail, are released to a pretrial services caseload, are placed under supervision by a probation agency, or are released on their own recognizance with an agreement to appear in court. If there is no release, the inmate must wait here at the jail for their court appearance as a guest of the County, getting a bed and three square meals.

Trustees are inmates who work in the jail as cooks, as orderlies for the staff, in the laundry or in the commissary. The trustees are paid a very small amount for their time and some jail gives the trustees a few days off their sentence in exchange for their work.

When an inmate arrives in jail they are put together in a large holding cell with other inmates in the intake. While in intake they are under heightened observation. Violent and out of control inmates are segregated.

Can I Get Work Release?

Work release is when you are released from jail during the day so that you can go to work. At the end of the day, you return to jail for the night. There are a number of requirements to be able to get into the work-release program. Most programs require your employer to fill out some paperwork. If you want to get into the work release program then apply prior to being sentenced to jail. This will minimize the amount of time you spend in jail waiting to get into the program.

Can I call my family in Jail?

Crawford County PA Correctional Facility has a phone program where inmates make outbound calls only, you cannot call into jail. Since you are paying for those calls don't make it a habit of accepting collect-calls, they are over $15 each. The alternative is to set up an account through their third-party phone company which charges steep fees for each minute used. You are paying for them to call you. Rules for Visitation

• Visits are a half-hour in length
• Visits are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Visitors must be signed in fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of visiting.
• Every visitor present counts as a visit. This also includes children. Visitors age eighteen (18) and over must have a valid photo drivers license (from any state), or a valid non-drivers license photo I.D. (from any state), which will not be provided by the Crawford County Correctional Facility. Visitors under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must also be on the approved visiting list.
• If you are unruly during visitation, the visit will be terminated and you could face criminal charges.
• Inmates housed in IHU will have no personal visits until they are classified.
• During classification, the inmate will be responsible for placing up to fifteen (15) visitors, and their relationship, on the visitation list. Revisions or changes to visiting lists will only be completed by the Crawford County Correctional Facility Counselors.
• Inmates involved in any facility programs or work programs will not receive visits during those times (with the exception of outside workers).
• Visitors and inmates must remain seated during visits.
• The institution will not notify a religious visitor who has been replaced or deleted from the inmate's visitor list by the request of the inmate. It will be the inmate's responsibility to notify the religious visitor that they have been replaced or deleted.
• No person on probation or parole will be permitted to visit an inmate.
• Any changes or variations in the visiting procedure will have to be approved by the warden, deputy warden, or shift supervisor.

Visitor Attire Dress Code – Visitors are expected to dress appropriately and avoid clothing styles that are revealing or provocative. Women should wear bras but they cannot have underwire. Underwire will not pass successfully through the metal detector. These items are NOT permitted:

• Coats, jackets or other outer garments (excludes suit coats, sports jackets/blazers and/or cardigan type sweaters)
• See-through clothing
• Clothing that exposes private body parts
• Shorts or mini-skirts
• Sleeveless shirts or tank tops
• Spaghetti strings or shirts that expose the shoulder or midriff
• Halter tops
• Spandex or leggings
• Pajamas worn as outer garments
• Hoods of any kind
• Bobby pins, safety pins, decorative pins, hair accessories and/or jewelry items that do not successfully clear the metal detector
• Bathing suits • Clothing that references obscene language, drugs, sex or violence
• Bare feet
• Boxer shorts as outside garment or are visible.
• Clothing with rips, tears or revealing holes that are in areas of the body that may reveal breasts, nipples, buttocks, genital area
• Pajamas or lingerie
• Knapsacks
• Book bags or backpacks
• Wallets

Face veils or obstructive clothing – Face veils or other articles of clothing that obstruct the view of an individual’s face required by a female visitor’s religious beliefs are permitted to be worn inside the facility. Positive identification is required for all visitors. These procedures will be followed for processing a visitor wearing a face veil or other article of clothing that obstructs the view of an individual’s face when entering and exiting a facility:

1. A female DOC staff member will identify the visitor. When possible, a female corrections officer will be used. When a female corrections officer is not available, female staff from other departments will be used to process a female visitor and confirm her identity when leaving.
2. The removal of the face veil or another article of clothing will be done in a location that gives the visitor privacy to avoid being seen by male individuals. All face veils or other articles of clothing that obstruct the view of an individual’s face must be moved or removed to allow the DOC staff member an unobstructed view of the visitor’s face. After the DOC staff member has viewed the visitor’s face, the visitor will be instructed to place the face veil or another article of clothing back to its original position.
3. Before leaving the facility, the face veil must again be opened to confirm the identity of the visitor.
