This facility is for adult inmates.
The DeSoto County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 3425 Industrial Dr Hernando, MS which is operated locally by the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. DeSoto County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Hernando Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
When you are processed into the facility, an identification wristband was placed on your wrist. The wristband is very important. The services you receive while housed in this facility depends on this wristband. You are required to wear it at all times. The removal of the wristband will result in disciplinary action. If your wristband breaks or falls off, you must report it immediately to a detention officer. Do not tamper with or alter this wristband in any way. There will be a replacement fee of $5.00 deducted from your commissary account for any wristband that has to be replaced due to detainee neglect, damage, or loss.
The Detention Center offers inmate the opportunity to order food, drinks, hygiene, and other miscellaneous items from a commissary. Commissary is delivered to the inmates on Tuesday with the exception of holidays. In order to receive your order, it must be completed using the inmate phone system or the smart jail mail kiosk by 10:00 pm on Thursday. Any commissary items left by inmates will become property over Desoto County Sheriff’s Department after 14 days.
Inmates will be deemed to be indigent if there monthly inmate account balance is below $2.00. An inmate must be in custody at least one calendar month prior to be considered indigent If an inmate is deemed indigent, he/she will receive two stamped envelopes a week upon request. Inmate will also have access to hygiene items.

All visitation takes place in the visitation center located at 2615 Panola Street Hernando, MS
On-site Video Visitation Rules and Conditions
- On-Site visits are to be schedule 24 hours in advance at securustech.net or in person at the visitation department during visitation hours.
- Please make sure that you print or write down the pin number for each visit. Pin numbers are required in order to start the visit. Failure to have the pin number will result in rescheduling of current appointment.
- All inmates are allowed to have two onsite visitations a week.
- With two different visitors per week.
- Visitation is scheduled in 20 minutes slots.
- Every visitor is to arrive 10 minutes prior to their scheduled visit.
- Visitors arriving late will not be allowed to visit and will have to reschedule.
- All individuals requesting visitation privileges must be in possession of a Government valid photo Identification card which may include: A valid state identification/Drive license card, Valid Passport, US military Identification card, US Residence card or Mexican Consulate Identification.
- Individuals will not be allowed to visit without a proper photo Identification card.
- No Children under the age of 12 are allowed in the facility.
- All children 12-15 years of age will bring a legible birth certificate.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn
- No tank tops, muscle shirts or sleeveless tops allowed.
- Absolutely no shorts, skirts or dresses above the knee.
- No pants pulled below the hip line.
- No Hats, bandanas, headbands, or any head covering of any kind.
- No revealing or see-through clothing of any kind.
- No cell phones allowed inside the facility at all.
- No purses allowed while visiting.
- No food or drinks allowed in facility.
- No weapons, pocket knives, lighter, nor cigarettes allowed.
- No electronics of any kind.
The dress code will be strictly enforced. All violators of the rules will face termination of visiting privileges and future visits.
