This facility is for adult inmates.
The Douglas County NV Jail (Lake Tahoe) is a medium-security detention center located at 175 Hwy 50 Stateline, NV which is operated locally by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Douglas County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Stateline Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
Inmates may receive letters via US mail. The amount of letters received is not restricted.

Letters must have the inmate’s name and sender’s name and return address.

Inmates are not allowed to receive magazines or newspapers of any kind.

Inmates are not allowed books. There is a library for them.

All mail will be opened and inspected by the jail staff.

DO NOT SEND CASH, it will not be accepted and will be returned to the sender at risk of loss.

Telephones/Phone Calls

Pay phones are available to the inmates from 8 am to 10 pm for collect calls only. For information regarding setting up accounts please contact Securus at 1-800-844-6591.

Inmates are not allowed to receive calls or messages.

Inmates can buy calling cards with their commissary orders.
Commissary

Money can be put on an inmate’s account Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM at the jail administration office.

Money orders will be accepted by mail, payable to the inmate. No personal checks.

Inmates can order commissary on Thursday mornings.

Funds will need to be received by 5 pm on Wednesday in order for the inmate to purchase commissary.
Medical Items/Prescriptions

Prescriptions will only be accepted in the current prescription bottle showing the name of the inmate.

Special medical items will only be accepted with approval from the jail medical staff.

Prescription glasses or contact lenses will be accepted. Contact solution must be in a new, sealed container.
Other Information

Upon an inmate’s release all funds on their account will be released to them in the form of a debit card.
If an inmate is transferred from this facility his property must be picked up within 30 days.

Douglas County NV Jail (Lake Tahoe) – Visitation
Visiting Procedures:
Inmates incarcerated in the Douglas County Jail may have non-contact visits after 7 days from the date of incarceration. All visits are by appointment only and must be scheduled by calling (775) 782-9085 on Tuesdays between 9 am and 5 pm.
- Visitor must be 18 or older and have valid photo identification.
- Visitor will be checked for outstanding criminal warrants.
- Children (persons under the age of 18) must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
- Visits are scheduled on Thursdays only in 30-minute blocks.
- One visit per day per inmate.
- Anyone who has been an inmate in the Douglas County Jail within the past 90 days will not be allowed to visit an inmate.
- Proper attire must be worn.
- No food or drinks allowed
- No cell phones/electronic devices
- No more than (3) visitors per inmate
