The Eaton County Youth Facility is a medium-security detention center located at 822 Couthouse Drive Charlotte, MI which is operated locally by the Eaton County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Eaton County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Charlotte Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Eaton County Youth Facility is responsible for providing temporary custody and care for youth in a safe and secure setting. The Detention Unit houses youth who have violated the law, violated court orders/probation or are waiting placement in a treatment program.
Youth participate in various educational programs, discussion groups, gym, free time, and activities along with having various job responsibilities. Youth may earn points for positive involvement in the program. Youth will have weekly goals developed (contracts) to help improve on specific behaviors or skills.

The Youth Facility has weekly scheduled visiting sessions. ONLY parents or legal guardians and grandparents may visit. Under very rare circumstances others may visit. All visitors must present pictured identification upon request and are subject to search. Cell phones, coats, hats, and personal items must be left outside of the visitation area. Because of security issues, parents who bring children or unauthorized visitors with them will NOT be allowed to visit.
