This facility is for adult inmates.
The Eddy County NM Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 201 N Main St Carlsbad, NM which is operated locally by the Eddy County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Eddy County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Carlsbad Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
Depositing Money Anyone can deposit money in an inmate's account. Money may be deposited in the cashier machine in the front lobby of the Eddy County Detention Center at 201 N Main in Carlsbad, everyday, from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. The machine takes cash and credit or debit cards. The machine does not accept coins or $1 bills. There is a transaction fee of $3.25 each time money is deposited. Money Orders will still be accepted through the mail.
Medical/Dental/Mental Health Care
- There is a Registered Nurse on duty 7 days per week, as well as holidays.
- The Medical Director is a State Licensed physician.
- Mental health services are provided by Carlsbad Mental Health Center.
- Dental services are also available.
The detention center is seeking national accreditation for compliance with the standards of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.

Attorney Visits
- 9 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 4 p.m Visits will also be accommodated on a reasonable request other than the times listed.
Video Visitation – In order to set up a video visitation you will need to go to videovisitanywhere.com to create an account and schedule a video visit. Video Visitation can be done from your home or by coming into Eddy County Detention Center. If you choose to do the visitation at home the charge is $10.99 for a 20-minute visit. There is no charge for the visit if you come into the facility. If you choose to come into the facility for video visitation the hours will be Tuesday through Sunday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Hours for video visitation from home will be Monday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. VIDEO VISITATION SCHEDULING INSTRUCTIONS
If you miss your scheduled Video Visit you will need to contact Securus Friends and Family at 1-877-578-3658 for a refund.
All Visits will be through video visitation. Visitors must be over the age of 18 and must bring proper identification. Some examples of proper I.D. are: Driver's License, Military I.D., Passport, etc.
Only immediate family will be allowed to visit (parents, grandparents, sister or brother). All other visits must be approved by the Chief of Security. Any person who has been incarcerated within the last 6 months or is out on bail/bond will not be allowed to visit or have access to the detention center.
All visitors will be expected to dress appropriately when visiting detainees at this facility.
The following items are prohibited as dress code while visiting detainees:
a. Transparent blouses or tops
b. Tank tops, spaghetti strap tops or halters
c. Skirts or shorts more than three inches above the knee
d. Low-cut necklines and/or backless tops or dresses
f. Obscene, profane or violence depicted logos on any t-shirt or any piece of clothing
g. Open-toed shoes
Officers handling visitations will have limited discretion in deciding whether clothing worn by the visitor is appropriate. If an officer observes inappropriate behavior on the video the visitation will be ended immediately.
