Escambia County AL Detention Center basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 251-867-0304

This facility is for adult inmates.

The Escambia County AL Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 316 Court St Brewton, AL which is operated locally by the Escambia County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Escambia County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Brewton Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Escambia County Jail houses those charged and awaiting trial, those arrested on warrants, those serving sentences at the county jail, those placed on holds by Parole and Probation, those sentenced to and awaiting beds in the state prison system or Community Corrections, those sentenced by municipal courts in our county, and those placed here on holds for other agencies.

The Escambia County Jail can house subjects accused of all levels of charges. The jail staff is responsible for securely holding all of these individuals and providing a safe environment.

Pre-trial confinement is not for punishment purposes. It is merely to assure that the arrestee appears in court.

Sentenced inmates, on the other hand, are here as punishment for their offenses. The deputies and civilian staff are responsible for making productive use of the inmates' time while not inflicting further punishment upon them.
