Finney County Jail basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 620-272-3756

This facility is for adult inmates.

The Finney County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 304 North Ninth St Garden City, KS which is operated locally by the Finney County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Finney County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Garden City Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Finney County Jail was originally built in 1982, and then expanded in 2000 with additions to the north and south side of the original building. The jail’s capacity went from 50 beds to 220 beds and is one of the larger jails in the state of Kansas. The jail is considered a “combination jail” which employs two styles of prisoner housing: direct supervision and linear.

For information on who is in the Jail and what they are charged with , call (620) 272-3756. The Deputy who answers the telephone will be able to give bond amounts and basic information on the person and how to gain their release. Once a person is accepted into the Jail the person, now prisoner, has to be booked, fingerprinted and photographed. A prisoner can not be released until these things occur. The amount of time that is required varies with the number of persons arrested and the cooperation of the prisoner.

visitation Info

Every day from 08:00 AM – 10:30 PM*
*The last visit starts at 10:00 PM

Prisoners will make video visits with family and friends over the Internet. Visitors must register over the Internet to access the Web Based Video Visitation System.

Prisoners are allowed up to 20 minutes per visit. These visits are conducted via the Internet from video stations located in prisoner housing units, Jail Lobby, and from PCs at home. This system is a product of HomeWAV and allows prisoners more visits and less restrictive visitation hours. It requires less staff and less travel by visitors resulting in savings to both the visitor and general public.
