The inmates housed at FL DOC – South Bay Correctional Facility – GEO located at 600 US Hwy 27 S in South Bay, FL are placed according to their custody level and are incarcerated by a private company contracted by a government agency and are paid a per diem or monthly rate, either for each inmate in the facility or for each bed available. The facility is well-trained and well-staffed. This doesn't come without some controversy as the "price of incarceration" is big business and critics claim there is a monetary benefit to keeping people locked up. The flip side is this facility undergoes rigorous inspections and are some of the be maintained in the US.

For inmates that show a willingness to learn new things, there are educational and vocational training programs here that will prepare them for a successful reentry when released.

The South Bay facility is a state prison operated by the private prison company GEO for the Florida Department of Corrections for about 1950 adult male inmates. The facility consists of a dormitory building that is utilized as a Therapeutic Community (TC). The TC is licensed as a residential Level III Drug Treatment Program by the Florida DCF. More than 80% of the total population participates in some form of education, substance abuse, or life skills programming. The facility also has several recreation areas, both indoor and outdoor.

SCOPE OF WORK: The facility provides academic and vocational training including CDL, work opportunities, substance abuse programs, and counseling. A Prison Industries Program through Prison Rehabilitative Industries and Diversified Enterprises, Inc. (PRIDE) operates a print shop at the facility.
