The inmates housed at Autry State Prison located at 3178 Mt Zion Church Rd
in Pelham, GA are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Autry State Prison is a medium-security GDC institution that houses about 1,700 adult male inmates in four open dormitories that contain rows of lockers and bunks. A separate building contains beds for protective custody and segregation inmates. Offenders housed at Autry can earn a GED, learn to read or take courses in adult basic education to further their academics.
The Chaplain's office offers inmates religious services a choir group and a bible study course. Vocational activities at this facility include shoe manufacturing, cooking, painting, automotive detailing, sanitation, basic computer skills, laundry, clerk, and horticultural work.

MISSION – Ensure public safety and effectively house offenders while operating a safe and secure facility. House general population, medium security inmates due to their sentence, offense or behavior. Has a capacity for housing 650 Level II Mental Health inmates, a 96 bed In-House Transitional Unit and a 42 bed Accommodated Living Unit. Host facility for Bainbridge Probation Substance Abuse Treatment Center.
HOUSING – One building with four separate open bunk dormitories. Each dormitory consist of 38 Double bunks. Six buildings with two living units containing 96 beds each. Three living units in these buildings have triple bunks on the bottom range only. One other building consists of 86 beds for segregation and 47 beds for isolation and protective custody. This facility also houses a C.E.R.T. team, a Tactical Squad and a Fire Station.

VISITATION DAYS / HOURS:
- Inmates with last names beginning with A-K: Saturdays 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM
- Inmates with last names beginning with L-Z: Sundays 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM
- Visitation will be open to all visitors from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM on state holidays
