This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at GDC Washington State Prison located at 13262 Hwy 24 E in Davisboro, GA are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Washington State Prison is a medium-security state institution that houses about 1,550 adult males in two and three-man cells. The segregation unit can house up to 92 inmates in double man and single man cells and is reserved for inmates who are difficult to manage or have safety and security issues. Inmates here can participate in various work details that include working on a farm, in laundry and maintenance, working in the kitchen, in landscaping, sanitation, composting, and automotive maintenance/repair. Vocational programs at the Annex allow inmates to learn computer technologies, culinary arts, barbering, clerical work, custodial maintenance and more. Offenders are also encouraged to take academic courses that may benefit them, including literacy, adult basic education and the ability for an inmate to earn a GED.
