The Granville County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 143 Williamsboro St Oxford, NC which is operated locally by the Graham County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Graham County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Oxford Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Granville County Detention Center houses inmates until they are tried in court and a disposition is made on their case. The Detention Center provides a safe and secure environment for the inmates, staff, and the general public.
General information about inmate mail:
- All mail, except legal or privileged, is opened and inspected for contraband and money orders.
- Inmates are not permitted to send or receive mail from other inmates.
- Messages will not be forwarded to other inmates.
- Inmates can only accept self-stamped envelopes from the Post Office or the Canteen.
When sending money through the mail to an inmate, the inmate may receive money orders or cashier’s checks only.
Credit/Debit card deposits can be made, for inmate use, by going online to www.jailatm.com
There is also an ATM located at the Detention Center Visitor’s Lobby which can be used for cash, credit, or debit deposits.

Visiting Hours:
Visiting hours are by the inmate's last name on Saturday and Sunday only.
A – L names are on Saturday
M – Z names are on Sunday
Male inmate visiting hours are 1:30 p.m. through 4:00 p.m.
Female inmate visiting hours are 4:00 p.m. through 4:30 p.m.
