This detention service division provides for City misdemeanants, United States Marshal Service inmates, Immigration and Customs Enforcement inmates, U.S. Park Service, Clark County inmates, and Boulder City Police Department misdemeanor arrestees.
The Division is organized under the Office of the Chief of Police and The Deputy Chief of Support, overseen by a Corrections Captain. The Corrections Division currently maintains a staff of approximately 114 employees, including Corrections Officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Detention Center Technicians, Central Control Room Operators, Classification Technicians, Cooks, and Police Administrative Specialists. This division manages an average daily inmate population of approximately 503 inmates. Unless remanded to adult status by the court having jurisdiction over the case, juveniles are not housed in this facility.

Henderson NV Detention Center – General Information
Medical Unit – Our practice is that all medical matters involving medical judgment are the sole provinces of the medical contractor. The facility has a nurse on duty 24 hours a day who is responsible for medical services. The medical service includes non-emergency and emergency medical service, mental health services, dental service, medication and prescription services.
Chaplaincy Program – Our practice is to offer a non-denominational religious service, religious education, prayer sessions, and counseling to inmates. The service is provided by the Henderson Police Department’s Chaplains program and approved volunteers. A non-denominational service is conducted on Sundays at the designated scheduled times.
Classification – Our practice is to maintain a classification system that ensures public, staff and inmate safety. A system that classifies prisoners in a fair and consistent manner according to the prisoner’s individual custodial management and program needs.
Commissary – A reasonable selection of commissary goods is provided. These items are listed on the Inmate Commissary Menu. The commissary items on the form may change from time to time depending on the following:
- Popularity of item
- Availability of item (discontinued, back-ordered, etc.)
- Misuse of items
- Other safety and security reasons as determined by the Administrative staff.
Funds can be placed on an inmate’s account for the purchase of snacks and sundries during lobby hours or at the Smart Deposit kiosk, online or by calling 1-866-394-0490. The Smart Deposit kiosk located in the lobby accepts cash or credit cards and debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo. Mail Services – All inmates are encouraged to maintain ties with their friends and family which aids in their reintegration process. Corresponding by mail is one of the ways an inmate can maintain these ties. The Detention Center recognizes the rights of the inmates to free access to courts, attorneys and government officials as well.
Special Programs and Services works with a comprehensive network of agencies that are appropriate to provide a wide array of services. Additionally, the City of Henderson Special Programs and Services hosts more than ten (10) different educational and counseling programs. Probationers referred from the Department are instructed to select a provider agency from an approved list.

If you need information about a detainee that is housed at this facility, you may call (702) 388-6253 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. When you call, please have the individual’s biographical information ready, including first, last and hyphenated names, any aliases he or she may use, date of birth and country of birth.
Detainees cannot receive incoming calls. If you need to get in touch with a detainee to leave an urgent message, you must call (702) 267-4607 and leave the detainee’s full name, alien registration number and your name and telephone number where you can be reached. The detainee will be given your message.

Henderson Detention Center (ICE) – Visitation
- Detainees can be visited once they have been moved to a housing unit or after 24 hours in custody, whichever comes first.
- Inmates are permitted to have two visits per week. Visiting hours are 8:00 am to 11:00 am or 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Wednesday thru Sunday*. There is a limit of two adults per visit. Children are allowed to visit but must be supervised by an adult at all times. Each visit is twenty minutes long.
- Visits may be recorded.
- Visitors must present valid, government-issued identification and must be dressed appropriately.
- Dress Code
- Shirt and shoes must be worn at all times
- Shirts and blouses must be able to be tucked in. No “spaghetti straps”, tank tops, tube tops or sleeveless shirts.
- No short-shorts or miniskirts. Underwear must be completely concealed.
- No profane, sexually explicit or derogatory language or graphics on clothing.
- No hats, ball caps, skull caps or “du-rags”
- Cell phones, purses, backpacks, food and drink are not allowed in the lobby. You may not visit an inmate against whom you have taken a protective order. *Please note that kitchen workers may not receive visits while they are in the kitchen serving or handling food. It is up to the kitchen worker to communicate this to family and/or friends.
Visitation will also be available on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Visits on a holiday will count toward the inmate’s limit of two visits per week.
Attorney Visits – Legal representatives of detainees are authorized to visit their clients at any time. A list of pro bono (free) legal organizations will be posted in all detainee housing units and other appropriate areas. This list shall be updated quarterly. If a detainee wishes to see a representative or paralegal from that organization, it is the detainee’s responsibility to contact them for an appointment.
Consular Visits – Consular officials may meet with their detained nationals at any time. It is requested that prior arrangements be made with the ICE Supervisory Deportation Officer to the extent possible and that consular officials bring appropriate credentials when they come to the facility. Clergy Visits – Clergy may visit detainees at any time, but must make prior arrangements with the Chaplain’s Office.
Visiting Restrictions
- All family or other social visits are Non-contact.
- No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted in the facility.
- If visitors are or appear to be intoxicated, visitation will not be allowed.
- All visitors are subject to search while in the facility.
- Visitors are not allowed to pass or attempt to pass any items to detainees.
- Visitors are not allowed to carry any items into the visitation area.
Search Procedures (prior to or during all visitations) – All individuals requesting admittance to the facility or the visitation area are subject to a pat-down search of their person, an inspection of their belongings, and a metal scan search. Individuals refusing to cooperate with a reasonable search will not be admitted. No firearms or weapons of any kind are permitted. No electronic devices (cell phones, pagers, radios, etc.) are permitted in the secure areas of this facility.
