ID DOC – Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI) basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 208-336-0740
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Idaho State Prison located at 13500 S Pleasant Valley Rd in Kuna, ID are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Idaho State Correctional Institution is the oldest and one of the largest correctional facilities in the state, with the ability to house 1688 adult male inmates. Most of the inmates here are long term medium-custody inmates, but the facility also has an infirmary and houses geriatric offenders. This prison also has an outpatient mental health program for those inmates who require mental health treatment. One of the unique things about this prison is the double razor-wire fences that have dogs patrolling as sentries in between. If the dogs don't deter escape attempts, the seven towers with armed guards will. Inmates can spend their incarceration time learning new skills within the correctional industries, get an education that includes earning a GED and can attend religious services held through the chapel.
