The inmates housed at Clayton Work Camp located at 207 W Morgan St in Clayton, IL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Clayton Work Camp is a minimum security adult male facility located in Adams County. It is a satellite facility of Western Illinois Correctional Center, located 11 miles from the facility, and is a dormitory setting.

IL DOC – Clayton Work Camp – Visitation

Visits are permitted at the Clayton Work Camp 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (daily) 

Visitors must arrive no later than 2 pm to be processed for a visit. Visits that take place Monday through Friday must be scheduled 7 days in advance by the offender. On weekends and holidays, the visitor is not required to schedule the visit.
