This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at Decatur Correctional located at 2310 E Mound Rd in Decatur, IL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

About IL DOC – Decatur Correctional Center:

The mission of the Decatur Correctional Center includes providing a continuum of programs and services to help female offenders reestablish and strengthen their relationships with their children and enhance their ability to grow within the family structure. The facility offers female offenders a variety of programs aimed at achieving these goals that also address the diverse needs of the offenders, including medical, social, psychological and educational needs. All programs are intended to equip the female offender for a successful reintegration back into the community.

On Jan. 24, 2000, the Decatur Correctional Center received its first female offenders. The facility is a minimum security female facility with eight dormitory style-housing units.

Decatur Correctional Center is located in Macon County Illinois. It is a minimum security facility that currently houses 770 female inmates. The primary goal of this institution is to provide inmates with programs that can strengthen and grow family bonds, primarily between mothers and their children. The female offenders are housed in eight dormitory style units. While incarcerated, inmates at Decatur Correctional Center are encouraged to take educational and vocational courses that will help equip the offender with skills that will aid in a successful reintegration to society. Academic opportunities include adult basic education, GED classes, and remedial college courses. Vocational skills taught at Decatur Correctional Center include computer technologies, culinary arts, custodial work, and courses in associate liberal arts degrees. Inmates can work in the correctional industries in upholstery and furniture manufacturing plant, offender clothing production, and dog grooming/kennel keeping.

visitation Info

IL DOC – Decatur Correctional Center – Visitation

General Population:
Weekdays, weekends and holidays – 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
No visitor is allowed entrance after 6:30 p.m. due to processing time. There will be a five (5) hour time limit on weekday visits.

Segregation:
Weekdays – 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 
No visitor is allowed entrance after 1:00 p.m. due to processing time. There will be a one (1) hour time limit on visits.

Segregation visits on weekends and holiday must have prior approval from the Chief Administrative Officer or designee.

Video Visitation:
Weekdays, weekends and holidays – 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Each offender is limited to 2 video visits per week.

Visitors to any correctional facility will be required to produce photo identification and verification of date of birth. Please be sure to bring 2 forms of identification with you; these would include a current photo ID such as a driver’s license, a state ID card, government ID card, military ID/driver’s license, or acceptable documentation of non-U.S. citizenship including a current Passport, or Visa, documentation must contain the visitor’s date of birth. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted. Visitors will also be required to provide vehicle information and other pertinent data, such as government identification, official credentials, attorney registration, and or law student certification.
