The inmates housed at Dixon Springs IIP located at 979 State Hwy 146 W in Golconda, IL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

The Dixon Springs Impact Incarceration Program functions as a boot camp, whereby eligible offenders approved by the sentencing courts and accepted by the department shall upon successful completion of the program requirements have their sentences reduced to time served and shall serve a term of mandatory supervised release.

1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays
Visits last no longer than 2 hours.
All visits must be pre-approved.
No visitor shall be admitted beginning one hour prior to the end of visiting hours.
Visits are limited to immediate family members ONLY. Immediate family members include: mother, father grandparents, spouse, children and siblings, including step relations. Due to space no more than 3 persons may visit at any one time.
Visitors to any correctional facility will be required to produce photo identification and verification of date of birth. Please be sure to bring 2 forms of identification with you; these would include a current photo ID such as a driver’s license, a state ID card, government ID card, military ID/driver’s license, or acceptable documentation of non-U.S. citizenship including a current Passport, or Visa, documentation must contain the visitor’s date of birth. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted. Visitors will also be required to provide vehicle information and other pertinent data, such as government identification, official credentials, attorney registration, and or law student certification.
