The inmates housed at Graham Correctional located at 12078 IL-185 in Hillsboro, IL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Graham Correctional Center is a medium-security adult male state correctional facility located on 117 acres and has 50 buildings within the facility house up to 2,013 adult male inmates. Graham Correctional Center houses several special populations, including substance abuse treatment, sex offender treatment and inmates in a kidney dialysis program. Graham continues to offer numerous academic and vocational programs.
This facility operates a reception and classification center that does intake for many offenders in the region. Offenders will be classified and either relocated to a more permanent facility that better suits the offender or will become a long term commitment at Graham Correctional Center. Inmates can receive substance abuse and sex offender treatment at this facility. Inmates are encouraged to participate in academic and vocational opportunities that exist at Graham Correctional Center. Educational courses allow inmates to earn a GED and gain an adult basic education. Vocational skills taught at this institution include auto body and engine repair, computer technology, business management, custodial maintenance, print works, and various construction-related disciplines. Offenders can also work in the correctional industries manufacturing furniture.

IL DOC – Graham Correctional Center – Visitation
General Population (Offenders not in C-Grade)
8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. seven (7) days a week. Offenders are permitted six (6) visits per month, with no more than two (2) on weekends or holidays. Visitors must arrive no later than 2:30 p.m. in order to visit.
General Population and Receiving and Classification Offenders:
- Reception & Classification 60 days or less (No Visits)
- Reception & Classification in diagnostic status beyond 60 days and Reception & Classification who have been approved to transfer to Graham General Population and have been in Reception Center for more than 60 days:
- Visiting hours are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Mon-Fri No Weekend or Holidays. Visitors will be processed beginning at 8:30 a.m. No visitors will be processed after 1:00 p.m.
- Reception and Classification Offenders are allowed two (2) Non-Contact visits per month.
- Reception and Receiving Offender visits are limited to two (2) hours.
- Only one (1) adult and one (1) lap size child will be allowed to visit Reception and Classification Offenders.
- General Populations (Offenders not in C-grade):
- Visiting hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Visitors will be processed beginning at 8:30a.m. No visitors will be processed after 2:30 p.m. every day of the week and must arrive before 2:30 p.m.
No visits are allowed for phase I Orientation inmates in R&C who were received 60 days or less from intake.
Segregation & General Population Non-Contact Offenders and C-Grade Offenders:
8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. No weekends or holidays. Visitors must arrive no later than 1:00 p.m. in order to visit. Offenders in Segregation Non-Contact, General Population and C-Grade status are only allowed 1 hour visiting privileges.
Please note, should overcrowding occur, time limits will be established so all visits may be accommodated.
Visitors to any correctional facility will be required to produce photo identification and verification of date of birth. Please be sure to bring 2 forms of identification with you; these would include a current photo ID such as a driver’s license, a state ID card, government ID card, military ID/driver’s license, or acceptable documentation of non-U.S. citizenship including a current Passport, or Visa, documentation must contain the visitor’s date of birth. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted. Visitors will also be required to provide vehicle information and other pertinent data, such as government identification, official credentials, attorney registration, and or law student certification.
