The inmates housed at IL DOC – Pittsfield Work Camp located at 23540 365th St in Pittsfield, IL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

About IL DOC – Pittsfield Work Camp:

The Pittsfield Work Camp opened in September 1996 and can house up to 400 offenders who must meet stringent criteria. It is a minimum security adult male work camp facility. The work crew program at Pittsfield has continued to grow and cover numerous requests throughout the community. Pittsfield also offers ABE (Adult Basic Education), Pre GED (General Education Development) and GED education as well as Career Tech classes to better prepare offenders for reintegration into society.

visitation Info

Visitation at Pittsfield Work Camp will be by appointment only Monday through Friday with five (5) visits and only 2 on weekends or holiday per month. Offenders must submit a visit request form (JAC 0090) at least one week prior to the requested visit. No scheduling will be necessary for Saturday, Sunday or holiday visits. Visitation hours at the work camps will be from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with no entry allowed after 2:00 p.m.

Visitors to any correctional facility will be required to produce photo identification and verification of date of birth. Please be sure to bring 2 forms of identification with you; these would include a current photo ID such as a driver’s license, a state ID card, government ID card, military ID/driver’s license, or acceptable documentation of non-U.S. citizenship including a current Passport, or Visa, documentation must contain the visitor’s date of birth. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted. Visitors will also be required to provide vehicle information and other pertinent data, such as government identification, official credentials, attorney registration, and or law student certification.
