The inmates housed at Robinson Correctional located at 13423 E 1150th Ave in Robinson, IL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Robinson Correctional Center is a minimum security adult male facility, located in southeastern Illinois, just one mile northeast of the City of Robinson in Crawford County. The facility is approximately 6.5 miles from the Indiana border and 230 miles due south of Chicago.
Robinson Correctional Center is located in Crawford County Illinois. It is a minimum security prison that can house up to 1,223 adult males. Inmates are housed in one of six housing units and have access to educational and vocational courses. Offenders can receive substance abuse treatment, parenting and lifestyle courses, anger management and life skills counseling, and re-entry preparation. Robinson Correctional Center encourages all inmates to participate in obtaining an adult basic education and a GED. Vocational skills that are taught at this facility include culinary arts, horticulture, a two-year college degree program, and commercial custodial training.
The facility is comprised of 23 buildings, which provide more than 200,000 square feet of serviceable space. This includes six housing units, each containing 10 dormitory rooms, an administration building, control center, mailroom, armory, and main gate. Also included is an academic/vocation building, a multi-purpose building with a gym and non-denominational chapel, a medical unit, segregation unit, food service building and a building housing identification, personal property, commissary, and laundry. Outside the perimeter fence sits a maintenance building, warehouse, and a training facility. The entire complex occupies approximately 100 acres.

IL DOC – Robinson Correctional Center – Visitation
General Population
8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven (7) days a week. Offenders are permitted seven (7) visits per month, with no more than three (3) on weekends or holidays.
Segregation
9:00 am to 3:00 pm (daily)
Segregation Visits limited to two visits per month for only one hour.
Visitors to any correctional facility will be required to produce photo identification and verification of date of birth. Please be sure to bring 2 forms of identification with you; these would include a current photo ID such as a driver’s license, a state ID card, government ID card, military ID/driver’s license, or acceptable documentation of non-U.S. citizenship including a current Passport, or Visa, documentation must contain the visitor’s date of birth. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted. Visitors will also be required to provide vehicle information and other pertinent data, such as government identification, official credentials, attorney registration, and or law student certification.
